This is so sad and disgusting. Roger Ebert tweeted about some ignorant schoolkids who got sent home for wearing ridiculous uber-American garb on Cinco de Mayo. This was his oh-so-offensive jab:
"@ebertchicago Kids who wear American Flag t-shirts on 5 May should have to share a lunchroom table with those who wear a hammer and sickle on 4 July."
Pretty freakin' clever, actually. But woe be unto that asshole who suggests that kids of opposing opinions should try socializing with each other. The Tea Party morons descended upon Ebert to really give it to him for making that absolutely out of line comment. This was just one guy:
This giant dab of dick cheese is named Caleb Howe. I won't waste any more carpal energy typing about him. One only has to read the comments above to see where everything went horribly wrong. UPDATE! This asshole lives in Charlotte. OF COURSE HE DOES.
How fucking low do you have to get to insult someone who has lost their jaw to cancer? Trust me, I have a grave sense of humor, and I'm the one who always pisses people off by insisting that everything is funny, to someone, no matter how wrong. But making fun of someone's facial deformity? How could you live with yourself? A flock of conservatards descended on the comments of the article to huff and puff about "the real story" being covered up, tin foil hat, conspiracy, JESUS, but the whole point in this instance is not about the kids or their stupid flag bandannas or "what really happened."
It's that a bunch of crybaby assholes made fun of a man because his face is deformed. YOU CAN'T DEFEND THAT SHIT. This is who the tea party is, unfortunately. People who think it's fair game to be monsters to their fellow humans because they disagree with their political opinions.
But Roger got in the last (sane) word:
"Dear TeePee Tweeters making fun of my cancer: You want ugly? For that, you have to look at a mind, not a face."

Ohio, what is wrong with you?
My favorite overgrown Oompah-Loompha John Boehner has played his hand, and is going to end up loosing. The Columbus Dispatch wrote an OK article on how Boehner has become the voice of the Republican Party and is taking them... somewhere. There were a few parts of this article that were laughable.
He isn't an extremist, I agree. He is an opportunist. He saw a way to steer the Luddites that compose his party down the road to crazyville. However, I don't think he understood exactly how much of a frenzy that the masses would be worked up to. Regardless, he has done so and is still trying to channel the anger of his party into repealing the health care bill.
This anger is no good. The people are lashing out against everything; breaking windows in congressional offices, screaming racial epithets at members of congress, faking an anthrax letter to Anthony Weiner, and threatening the family members of congressmen. This has got to stop. As long as people like John Boehner are allowed to continue fomenting this anger, there are going to be more acts of violence that are going to escalate until someone ends up dead.
Former Republican congressman David Hobson of Springfield said the speech helped Boehner "5,000 percent" with House Republicans, adding that "John is a stronger leader in the party today. I think he still has the ability to work with the Democrats. He's not an extremist."

The True Face of the GOP and the Tea Party
I am afraid I can't comment on this video. The anger that wells up in me can't be formed into words. I will say that this is the true face of this group of "people".
Tea Baggers Use Slurs - Suprised Much?
Saturday, as lawmakers were trying to whip votes for the Health Care bill, Tea Party activists called Rep. John Lewis (D, GA) a "nigger" and Rep. Barney Frank (D, MA) a "faggot". The GOP and the Tea Party are trying to distance themselves from the actions of the activists. Rep. John Boehner (R, OH) called the actions "reprehensible" and said that they don't represent the Tea Party.
I am trying to figure out at what point the Tea Baggers weren't a racist group. Since the Tea Party unveiled themselves last summer during the initial Health Care debate, they have shown nothing but contempt for a black president. It ranges from questioning his birth certificate to questioning his loyalties to the United States. This group, who was obviously the brain-child of man-child Glenn Beck, has fomented fear and hatred since its inception. They have incited people to violence and given voice to what seemed to be a dying group of white nationalist groups. So here is my question to the GOP: Are you surprised?
When you work people up by telling them that Stalin-reincarnate is taking over the government; that said government is going to take all of your money; that said government is going to kill your grandmother; that said government is going to kill you; that said government is going to take away your guns (which should probably happen, looking at this group of fools), what do you think they are going to do? They are going to lash out at whoever is, in their mind, the cause of the problem. Just as Hitler lashed out against the Jews because he didn't get into the art school that he wanted, these Tea Baggers are lashing out ignorantly, and violently, against an enemy who is supposedly looking for reparations.
Rush Limbaugh says almost daily that the health care bill is somehow reparations for slavery to black people. Glenn Beck says it is encroaching communist-socialist-nazist ideals, personified in a black president. Sean Hannity constantly calls the presidents (and all those who aren't republicans for that matter) actions into question as unpatriotic. What are the people that listen to their bile and hatred going to do?
I find Rep. Boehners' statement reprehensible. When you work people into a frenzy because they are stupid and easily controlled, you can't claim to be appalled when things get ugly. Rep. Boehner was one of many who helped make this happen. Now it is time for them to be seen as the racists that they are.
It should be OK though. The Tea Party does have Jesus on their side.
