Sick Sick Sick!

I have been rather ill this week. Things are starting to get back to normal for me, so I should be pumping out some new material for the 3 or 4 people who read my blog. Thank you all for not dropping me like a hot rock. In the mean time, enjoy this video.

Jesus Christ, Astronaut

A beautiful moonlit night over India is shattered by the screams of a random group of people. They saw it. It was right there in front of everyone. Mary and the baby Jesus were on the moon! How in the hell did they get up there? They must be astronauts!
Reports of sightings of the image of Mother Mary and infant Jesus on the moon on Thursday and Friday in Mumbai, Goa and Bihar has fuelled fears about an impending apocalypse.

While priests asked people not to take the issue seriously, the news set off stories about the end of the world. Many saw the images as a message to prepare for doomsday.
Well, I am glad no one overreacted and jumped to some crazy conclusions. I guess appearing on the moon is a step up from a tortilla chip and a slice of bread. To appear on the moon MUST mean the end is nigh. It does make me wonder though: why did Jesus appear in his infantile form? Why was Mary there?

Of course, this could all just have been hysteria and pareidolia.

The 3 State Solution

Israel is becoming more and more schizophrenic. A recent poll from the Geocartography Research Institute found that 61% of Israelis think that the haredim should live separately. The haredim are the ultra-orthodox, rest-of-the-world-hating, wife-abusing, violent people in Israel that don’t pay taxes and also don’t have jobs. They are supported strictly by the government.
The question that the president of the Geocartography Research Institute, Prof. Avi Degani, posed to 500 Jewish Israelis – haredim, religious, traditional and secular – last week was whether they agreed with the notion that it would be better if haredim were to live in separate haredi locales, and would not be involved in the secular populace, for the benefit of both populations.
That’s only going to benefit one population. You know, the one that isn’t bat-shit religiously insane. If you let these people disengage from society, they are going to do nothing but become more and more radical. Expect nothing but violence from these already-violent people.

However, they have started to allow the haredi women to serve in the military… separately from everyone else.
The Israeli Army Intelligence Corps has approved the enlistment of 10 married ultra-Orthodox Jewish women, a military official said.

The women will be permitted to take their young children to the bases where they serve, Israel Radio reported.

The women will serve in intelligence units, including the 8200 Unit (an intelligence information and code-gathering operation), as well in computer engineering and other electronic functions, the radio said.

They will be completely segregated from male soldiers in accordance with their religious requirements, the report said.
Keep this shit up Israel and you are going to need a 3-state solution.

A Compromise Worthy Of Obama

Remember the rabbis in Israel that signed a letter stating that no one should rent or sell to a non-Jew? Well, one of their own has decided to try to come up with a compromise. Wait, What? How do you compromise with people who are only interested in driving non-Jews out of Israel and taking over their homes, which requires force in many cases?
He said his draft opens by expressing reservations about the letter's call for "what sounds like" discrimination against Arabs. It then declares Israel to be "a Jewish state, the place of the Jewish people" and says the state must safeguard Jews' right to their country by "acting against hostile elements that seek to exploit the principle of equality ... to exercise the 'right of return' and expel us from our country."
No, it doesn’t sound like discrimination, it is discrimination. It is fucking racism and is disgusting to see Jews, of all people, to be participating in such vile acts. If Israel is a Jewish state for Jewish people, then all funding needs to be cut off immediately. Perhaps they can find strictly Jewish money to fund their country. If you have a group of Palestinians driven from their homes, there should be nothing but a right of return. A person losing their mind over losing their home to invaders is not an exploitation of equality, it is justice. How many Jewish neighborhoods have been razed and taken over by Palestinians? I would guess that at the rate of construction and how fast the Gaza Strip is shrinking, not too many.

Israel needs to start being treated like Apartheid South Africa, because that is exactly what it has become.

The Anti-Gay Screed Of An Idiot

The blood is boiling. Angry.

Sometimes I hate opening my inbox and finding the new batch of solitary hells that are contained within like some sort of festering cancer. Today was no exception.

The “editor-in-chief” of LifeSiteNews.com, John-Henry Westen, spoke to a hoard of anti-choice, anti-gay monsters this week in Italy at what can only be described as a convention of hate. I don’t like bringing any attention to these douche-bags unless it is absolutely necessary, which it seems to be. Here are some choice excerpts from the article.
It is an act of love, he said, for parents to correct and discipline their children. “It is not love,” he said, “to allow your children to rampantly misbehave without correcting them.”

“So too the Church, especially Her shepherds – the fathers of souls - must feed the flock, must teach the truths however difficult and politically incorrect. That is true love.”
So gay people are children who need to be corrected and disciplined. I think the church has had a pretty good display of its discipline for the “wrongdoings” of society, from the Inquisition to the “Kill The Gays” bill in Uganda. Perhaps John-Henry should be addressing the lot of priest who were less interested in correcting their flock than they were “feeding the flock” of children as much of their penises as they could.
Christians, he said, have balked at defending their beliefs in all the areas of concern in the Culture Wars, from abortion, adultery, homosexuality and divorce to human embryonic stem cell research.
Does anyone truly think that the church is quiet on any of these subjects? There is proof about 30 miles from my home that the church is quite vocal on the areas of abortion, homosexuality, and stem cell research. Who is blowing up abortion clinics? Who is attacking gay people? Who couldn’t keep their damned noses out of stem cell research? The church, that’s who.

Take Prop 8 in California, for example. The Mormon Church bankrolled the entire fight against allowing two people who love each other to get married. Before you ask, I do lump all churches in together. Mormons are the same as Muslims are the same as Hindus are the same as Satanists. It all the same bullshit lies and myths with a different Brand Name.

The Catholic Church is the worst offender when it comes to human rights. A group that has a history of fostering hatred for Jews, assisting the Nazis, and raping children should have a better mind to keep their opinions about society to themselves.
Westen posed the question of how Christians can now begin to present their beliefs forthrightly in a culture that is so firmly rejecting them. The answer, he said, is to be found in the Christian principle of love of neighbour. Specifically, the love of those suffering from homosexual temptations and those men and women in the grip of a destructive lifestyle.
I don’t think this guy gets it. Society rejects his beliefs because they are fucking stupid! This isn’t 1500, as much as the church would like it to be, and no one gives a shit about what the church has to say about subjects that they obviously have no idea about. Their version of Christian Love ™ consists of smiling to your face and telling you that you are scum and are going to burn in hell for eternity if you don’t denounce who you are. The only reason that homosexuals are suffering is because of fucking bigots like this guy.

I can’t bring myself to quote any more of this tripe. This is the face of the church. This is what they all think of those who don’t buy in to their bullshit. The problem lies in the fact that people like John-Henry have the ear of many politicians and world leaders. The tragedy is that anyone listens to what he has to say.

What should we do about people like this, if anything?

We Bringin' Guns

So, this church has decided they are going to burn a bunch of Qurons in Gainesville, FL. The Fire Marshal stepped in a said “no way.” So what did the church do? What all churches do! They decided to say to hell with the Fire Marshal and said they are going to burn the books anyway. Aside from circumventing the law and the images of the Nuremburg Rallies that may cross your mind, it is their right to do so. What isn’t their right is what has followed.

Dove World Outreach Center Pastor Terry Jones has accepted the support of Right Wing Extreme, which he said offered to come to the church with between 500 and 2,000 men on September 11. He described the organization as an armed civilian militia group.

"There is a need for this protection. It is absolutely necessary in light of the death and terror threats we have received," Jones said in an e-mail to CNN.

"We have met with the FBI who have warned us of the threats they have seen, not only against us but against other targets in Florida. We have personally received threats by phone and many by mail," he said.

Threats against these insane fundamentalists are unacceptable, but having an armed right-wing group that is actually called Right Wing Extreme to come “patrol” your stupid rally is, well, stupid! What do you think is going to happen when you have a bunch of crazed hillbillies with guns “protecting” a church group from protesters? I imagine the police are going to be there anyway. Hell, there are probably going to be a few tossing the books onto the pyre.

I await the body count.

Obnoxious Christian Conversion

Does Christianity Make Sense? Well, that depends on who you ask. According to English Professor Holly Ordway, of course it does. Ms. Ordway explains that she was once an academic, logical, intellectual, and an atheist. That all changed at the age of 31. {insert your own joke here} What is interesting is her view of atheists and how she acted when she was an atheist.
“Though she knew next to nothing about Christianity, she began to mock Christians and belittle their faith, intelligence and character.

"[I]t was fun to consider myself superior to the unenlightened, superstitious masses, and to make snide comments about Christians," Ordway writes.”

That doesn’t make you an atheist; that makes you a dick. If she was mocking a group of people she knew nothing about, then I am going to have to call her on being “logical and intellectual.” The person that would just start ranting at people they don’t understand strikes me as crazy; akin to the guy on the corner ranting at the street signs for being colorful.

Her problems with a naturalistic worldview didn’t end with her being a dick, as if the two are somehow mutually exclusive.
“One reason for her interest, she explains, is that her "naturalistic worldview was inadequate to explain the nature of reality in a coherent way: it could not explain the origin of the universe, nor could it explain morality."

"On the other hand, the theistic worldview was both consistent and powerfully explanatory: it offered a convincing, rationally consistent, and logical explanation for everything that the naturalistic worldview explained plus all the things that the naturalistic worldview couldn’t."”

Inadequate to explain reality in a coherent way? Could not explain the origin of the universe? Could not explain morality? Where does religion do any of this? Just saying “’cuz of God” doesn’t make it so. There have been better people than I to write at length about morality as an evolutionary condition, such as Sam Harris. As for the origin of the universe, “not currently able to explain” and “never going to explain” are two different things. This is one of those constantly moving goalposts. It went from the age of the earth to the age of the universe to how the universe came into being to the actual origin of the universe. Every time science answers a question, the goalpost moves a little further out. As for reality, you mean to tell me the idea of the invisible sky daddy who is his own son but not and killed himself on a cross 2000 years ago, but not really is somehow a more coherent explanation of reality? Wow.

To the points of the theistic world view taking care of everything, I would ask for evidence. No religious books are rational, convincing, logical, or coherent. They are stories that have been written down from hearsay about events that never took place on timelines that are demonstrably false. They are myths that don’t agree with each other even when talking about the same story.

Here is where the story begins to eat itself.
“"I don’t 'believe' because I like the idea and want it to be true. I don’t 'believe' because I think Christianity makes sense intellectually (although that was a necessary foundation to my faith). In fact, I wouldn’t say that I 'believe' in God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or that I 'believe' I have a personal relationship with Him: I would say that I know these things to be true," the former atheist emphatically stated in a 2007 blog entry.”

Didn’t she just get done talking about arrogance and absolute knowledge? She doesn’t believe, she knows. That sounds more conceited and arrogant than any atheist I have ever met. This is where religious people always lose me. They talk about atheists as arrogant and all-knowing, then turn around and call atheists fools for not seeing the truth that was there all the time; the truth that they know.

She is still a dick.

Only A Matter Of Time

Professional crazy man Mel Gibson is trying to show remorse for his crazy, racist, womanizing ways by throwing himself back in to his crazy, racist, womanizing church.
"Mel Gibson built the church in 2003 and its daily mass follows the actor’s “traditionalist views.” According to reports, mass is performed in Latin and women must wear head coverings.”
This sounds a lot like Islam, just in a different language. This is a pattern that we see a lot with public figures like Tiger Woods throwing himself back into Buddhism or any of the multitude of political figures who have sex with men, then throw themselves back into church.

I am waiting for an atheist to get caught doing something just to have him/her say “Yeah, now I am going to fully devote myself to atheism.”

Jesus Is Coming... In 2050

A recent study has shown that nearly 41% of Americans think that Jesus is going to return by 2050. Does anyone else see a problem with this? I think the numbers are a little off, but when you have a large group of people, especially the ones in power, that believe this crap, then we are setting ourselves up for failure.

These people that think that Jesus is going to return soon are going to be the death of us all. Why clean up the oil spill, or try to stop polluting so much, or stop wars? Jesus is going to come back and save us anyway and magic away the filth.

I am telling you, the people that believe this stuff are voting and taking office. We need some atheist candidates to take office and put a stop to this nonsense.

Tulane Professor Proves God Exists With Bible

So crazy it must be true! So this professor, Frank Tipler, has proven that God exists because the Bible tells him so.
"God is the cosmological singularity, out of which the universe sprang. God created the universe, he will guide the universe, and until finally the universe will recollapse into him. The final singularity which is the same as the initial singularity. The cosmological singularity at its fullest extent is, in fact, God."

He claims that his math coincides with Exodus in the bible, describing god referring to himself as "I am that I am" meaning that god is referring to himself as both past and future tense. By his logic this proves that god is with the universe from beginning to end.

First of all, the cosmological singularity is not god. I have never understood the propensity for some of these religious loons to say "oh no, I call the point at which the universe was an infinitesimal point and began a rapid expansion god" or "oh no, I call the laws of nature god". I don't care what you call it, I care about what the actual definition is.

Second, I am not sure I grasp what the second paragraph even means. His math coinciding with Exodus is kind of like saying my math coincides with the baked chicken I had last night for dinner. It is nonsensical.

I wasn't sure if this guy was real. After all, I did read about this as an unsourced story from Rant/Rave. So I did a little digging (by typing this guy's name into the Google search bar) and I found Professor Frank Tipler's website, which is devoted to a book he wrote called, I shit you not, "The Physics of Christianity." I can only surmise that this is what the writer from Rant/Rave got his information and I have to tell you, it is chock full of warm, nausea-inducing, bizarre 'stuff'.
Tipler begins by outlining the basic concepts of physics for the lay reader and brings to light the underlying connections between physics and theology. In a compelling example, he illustrates how the God depicted by the Jews and Christians is completely consistent with the Cosmological Singularity, an entity whose existence is required by physics. His discussion of the scientific possibility of miracles provides an impressive, credible scientific foundation for many of Christianity's most astonishing claims, including the Virgin Birth, the Resurrection, and the Incarnation. He even includes specific outlines for practical experiments that can help prove the validity of the "miracles" at the heart of Christianity.

Wow. This guy is a one man show. This is proof positive that just because you are a professor doesn't mean you can't be bat-shit-crazy. I can only imagine being in one of this guy's classes.

Of Pumpkins and Polar Bears

The traveling creation “museum” paid a visit to Gastonia, NC last night. The anticipation from the atheist group was electric. We had been looking forward to the group outing for the past week and were sure that the experience would be more than we possibly could have expected.

We arrived to the church around 7:15 pm. After paying our $3 to gain admission, we were told to wait in the sanctuary while the group of children was completing their round of indoctrination. I am sure that the “bouncer” was suspect of our group when we all 14 of us sat together and basically bought out their event. After a 20 minute wait, we were invited to come into the room and look around before the lecture started.

As soon as I walked through the door, I knew we were in for a great night. This particular “museum” consisted of about 20 wall panels with various descriptions of how God had created the universe. Of course, the most prominently placed panels were the creation story boards. There was a panel devoted strictly to atheists, progressives, Nazis, communists, and abortionists that made me feel a little ill. I expected to see something of that nature, but was taken aback to see it so shamelessly displayed. I was to come to the conclusion that out of all the words that could use to describe the person putting on this particular show, Mr. Meeks, “shameful” would not be one of them.

“The Bible starts off by saying that God created the heaven and the Earth. If you were to say this is scientific language, this is when God created time, space, energy; the basic structure of all creation – is time, space matter energy. On the second day, the Earth was an 8000 mile diameter mud ball, hanging out there. On the third day, he took the big mud ball and separated it, with the dry land on one part and the water on another.” It had begun, and was going along as expected. This went on for roughly 15 minutes, explaining how the Atlantic Ocean “didn’t even exist before the flood” and how God made plants and such. This is the point where things started to plummet.

Mr. Meeks began to explain how this is when his favorite plant was created, “chocolate.” He went on “chocolate grows on trees, and God made chocolate trees.” He told us that he was going to remove all of our feelings of guilt by telling us that chocolate was and health food and good for us. He made it seem as if there was some wondrous forest that had trees with Hershey bars hanging from them. I am sure there was, but before the flood. We are now 2 minutes in to the lecture.

This is where the “evolutionists” were shown to be the silly, stupid atheist know-it-all’s that we are. “The fourth day is when God created the sun, the moon, the stars, and the planets.” There was no big bang. It was God. I know this because Mr. Meeks told me so. “The big bang was something created by evolutionists about a hundred years ago and all sorts of other silly stories about monkeys turning into people and fish turning into lizards and all kinds of silly stuff. The big bang is the silliest of their silly stories.”

I am fairly sure that this is a good place to cease quoting Mr. Meeks. This man was repeating the same old information that has been refuted time and time again. I am sure that this will come as no surprise to anyone else, especially to those who have experience with this sort of person. The mistake in his format of conduct this lecture came from the interactivity of the whole thing. It was when he brought up the age of the Earth and radiometric dating that the whole lecture turned on its head. A few members of the group challenged Mr. Meeks, and he accepted. He was challenged on radiometric dating, the age of the Earth, and the evolution of life. At this point, the bouncer (who was roughly a 65 year old preacher) came in and announced that this wasn’t a debate, it was a lecture. The questions were meant to come afterwards.

We were good. We were quiet. We listened to his evidence. When the end of the lecture came (which was right after he explained that because the scientists like Newton, etc were Christians, then the universe was created) we offered up our questions. It was like pulling teeth. There was a mention of a cubical Earth and only animals that interacted with people were mentioned in the Bible. It was infinitely interesting and annoying at the same time.

None of this will come as a surprise to most of the people who read this. However, this was the first time that most of the people in our group had been confronted with such blatant refusal to acknowledge the facts. This was coupled with the absolute randomness of the entire lecture. We went from creation, to chocolate, to pyramids, to a story about polar bears loving pumpkins. One member, Mike, made a good point: “If everything was intelligently designed and polar bears love pumpkins, then why didn’t God put polar bears with the pumpkins?”

Another of our members, we’ll call him Bobby, made an excellent observation after the lecture was over. He said that Mr. Meeks entire premise was that if someone didn’t see it happen, then we (evolutionists, I guess) made it up. Since scientists weren’t there in the beginning, they are just making the evidence up. Mr. Meeks is under the impression that scientists “looked at things and made up possibilities of what might be and explanation of that, and went with it because it seemed to make sense.” It truly is a misunderstanding of the fundamentals of science.

The reactions from everyone that attended the lecture were hilarious and upbeat, in spite of the beating our brains had just taken. Another of our members, Ryan, made the correct observation that the room was devoid of logic. Finally, our resident scientist Jim had a few thoughts on the whole ordeal. “He wasn’t trying to prove his [Meeks] points; he was trying to disprove the points of evolution. He fails to realize that even if they do manage to disprove everything in evolution, they still haven’t proven creationism remotely correct.” Jim also had a few words about the characterization of scientist. “I do get tired of people telling me what scientists think and what scientists believe because they are not scientists. They have never been in the scientists’ mindset.”

I know you have all been waiting for my reaction. I didn’t see a person who was interested in listening to any facts. I didn’t see a person who wanted to accept the smallest bit of what scientists had to say or what science was capable of doing… all while he pulled out his cell phone to make a call. I guess you don’t need to believe in science to benefit from their advances.

Here is one of Jim's responses to the creation "museum".

And here is the link to some of the pictures taken during the event.
