"Ihre Papiere, bitte!"

And they said we (progressives and liberals) were the bad guys. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has sign into law a bill that would require legal immigrants to carry their immigration papers with them at all times, under penalty of law.

Just when I think that the Republican Party has reached its lowest point, they do something like this. After all of the talk of progressives being communists or Nazi's or whatever they were calling us, they go an sign into law a bill that is exactly what the Nazi's did to Jews in the beginning of Hitler's reign. "Ihre Papiere, bitte!"

This is absolutely disgusting. There is no way to carry out this law that doesn't involve racial profiling.

[Gov Brewer] said that racial profiling would not be tolerated, adding, “We have to trust our law enforcement.”

Yeah, if there is one group of people I trust in this country, it is cops. The same group of people who routinely abuse their power are going to be given another "invaluable tool" to harass the public. Trust in law enforcement did the people in 1939's Germany a lot of good.

I am not saying this as hyperbole either. This is exactly the types of laws that were enacted to make sure that the Jews were kept in their place. The next law we should expect out of Arizona is for anyone who is brown to start wearing arm bands with an "M" on it, because you know all brown people are Mexicans anyway.

I wonder how long it will take before someone is either killed or severely injured as a result of this bill. How long will it take before their is a lawsuit against the state (which is in conflict with federal law)? How long until the people in Arizona revolt?

The icing on the cake is that this bill is also supported by John McCain. The person (I refuse to call him a man) that was supposed to be an advocate for immigrants, the person who was supposed to look out for a little guy, the person who wanted to be president. Thank you for your support. I have always wondered what someone looks like after they have shed all of their morals and principles. Thank you for the education.
